Marine type transformer, also known as shore transformer. Transformers used in shipyards and on ships must be designed for heavy use conditions. Excessive and continuous vibration on ships may cause loosening in transformer mechanics or windings. In addition, salty and humid weather conditions at sea may cause corrosion in windings and electrical connection points.
For this reason, shore transformers used on ships, piers and shipyards are designed for these harsh conditions.
The windings are completely protected by tape wrapping impregnated with thermosetting resin or by filling with epoxy resin under vacuum.
Copper winding is used in marine type transformer windings. Special type transformers are used to suit the needs. For example, an automatic selective transformer system has been designed because the energy supplied varies depending on the countries where the ports are located. Special lighting transformers are produced for ships.
Ship type transformers comply with CE and TSE Standards and Lloyd approval certificate is obtained upon request.
